Apprenticeships

There's never been a better time to have marketable skills. Apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and workplace experience.

Apprenticeships are work-based learning programmes designed around your needs. They lead to a nationally recognised qualification. Earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job specfic skills. Off the job, usually on a day release basis, you receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Apprenticeships are open to all age groups above 16 years old and in work.

Competition for places with employers can be fierce, so you will need to show that you are committed, and aware of your responsibilites to both yourself and the company who employ you. You also need to be happy to work as both part of a team and individually, and be able to use your own initiative.

Key benefits of being an apprentice include:

  • earning a salary. The minimum salary is £2.60 per hour; however, many apprentices earn significantly more.
  • getting paid holidays
  • receiving training
  • gaining qualifications
  • learning job-specific skills.

Apprenticeship are available in the following areas:

  • Business Administration
  • Childcare
  • Health and Social Care
  • Youth work
  • Supporting Teaching and Learning
