English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
Looking for internationally recognised qualifications; for example FCE and other Cambridge exams? Do you need IELTS to access higher education?
The courses below will prepare you for the Cambridge exams. However, WAES is not an examination centre, so your tutor will advise you where you can take the examination, when you are ready and wish to do so. You can take exams at different times throughout the year.
Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)
This course prepares you for the internationally recognised Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) exam.
It covers the complete range of skills needed at Upper Intermediate level, as well as all aspects of the exam. You need a level of English equal to Upper Intermediate level 1 to join.
Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English (CAE)
This course prepares you for the internationally recognised Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English (CAE) exam.
You will cover the complete skills needed at Advanced Level, as well as all aspects of the exam. You need a level of English equal to Advanced level 2 to join this course.
Cambridge Proficiency in English (CPE)
This course prepares you for the internationally recognised Cambridge Proficiency in English (CPE) exam. The CPE means that you have reached a level of English approaching that of a native speaker. The course covers the complete skills needed at this very high level, as well as all aspects of the exam. You need a level of English equal to post Advanced level 2/3 to join.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
This course is ideal if you want to access higher education at university level in the UK. The course prepares you for all four papers of the IELTS exam. We also give you instruction in exam technique and exam practice. You need a minimum level of English equal to Upper Intermediate level 1 to join.
