The course has been designed to give you practical skills in using Information Technology that will enable you to carry out tasks in a range of vocational contexts. It is ideally suited to those who are new to using ICT.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
There are no formal entry requirements and the course is levelled at Entry 3 which is suitable for complete beginners. You will need to have English at E3 or above and sit an initial assessment to determine whether this course is the best level for you.
What topics does the course cover?
You will cover on the course - Displaying information Using ICT, Using ICT to find Information and Communicating Information using ICT
How will I be taught and assessed?
Classroom based teaching with constant tutor feedback using Microsoft Office. Additional practice outside of the classroom is advised as there will be assignments which need to be completed. At the end of the course, there will be a controlled assessment which will be marked internally.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
No specific requirements for class are required, however having access to a computer at home will aid understanding. Please note If no computer is available at home we suggest you make good use of our Learning Resource Centres.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
Successful learners will gain an Entry 3 Certificate in IT Functional Skills, and you will have gained beginners computer skills.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
You may progress to higher level qualifications such as OCR ITQ Level 1 Certificate in IT User Skills
