Westminster City Council Apprenticeships

We are looking for people who are passionate about a career in local government. We’re not focused on your qualifications or work experience, but on whether you have the drive, commitment and ideas. We have already had a large number of apprentices successfully complete our programme and many have gone on to secure roles within the Council.

Our apprenticeship programmes last for 12 months or longer, depending on the qualification, and have lots to offer, including:

Organisational Development Support Officer  -WCC/WAES/004

People Services

This role will support the delivery of the Council’s organisational development (OD) and learning and development (L&D) functions to contribute to, and influence, improved performance in the workplace at an individual, team and organisational level. The role is future-focused, understanding the business context/culture and has a good grounding across the whole training and learning cycles. 

The role will work alongside colleagues who specialise in Human Resources and is supported by OD Advisors within the People Services Team.

By the end of the Apprenticeship, you have developed the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to identify learning/training needs, designing/sourcing training and learning solutions, delivering and evaluating training, and working with stakeholder/business area managers.

Performance and Business Support Apprentice  -WCC/WAES/005

Children’s Services

This role will provide Business Support assistance in a planned way to different teams within Children’s services and duties will include

  • To set up meetings for Senior Managers, liaising with internal and external colleagues and clients
  • To minute ad-hoc meetings
  • To update the various departmental databases and work with excel spreadsheets for different service areas
  • Working with the Client Resource Officers on departmental Finance systems and all related Finance and Business Processes.
