Get work-ready with a traineeship in 2018

• Can you commit to at least 10 weeks of learning?
• Are your current qualifications below A-Level / Level 3 standard?

If so, you are eligible to join our WAES traineeship programme!

Our traineeship programme will help you to prepare for roles in sectors such as customer service, food & hospitality, business, retail, childcare, creative arts, floristry, fashion and many more in just 10 weeks.

You will spend six weeks in the classroom to improve your English and maths followed by four weeks gaining valuable work experience with one of our selected partner employers. Plus, we’ll support you along the way.

Current traineeship opportunities:

- WAES Hair and Make-up Traineeship

The Hair and Make-up Traineeship is a 10-week education and training programme that offers learners, aged 16 and above, who are interested in working in the hair and make-up industry, the skills and experience that employers are looking for. The traineeship comprises of a high-quality work experience placement, work preparation training and English and maths qualifications (if required). Trainees are given the opportunity to gain vital on-the-job experience along with industry-recognised qualifications. All of which makes them ‘work ready’ – boosting their chances of gaining employment as well as improving their long term prospects.

Skills, experience or prior qualifications required
Little to no work experience required, No qualifications / Level 2 or below qualifications, committed and hard-working.

Entry requirements or restrictions
The course is aimed at those unemployed, aged 16 and above (target audience aged 19-24 years old), ready for work within six months.

Topics that the course covers
Hair and Make-up, Employability Skills, Health and Safety in the Workplace, English and Mathematics (if required).

Teaching and assessment
Hair and Make-up, Employability Skills, Health and Safety, English and Maths will be classroom-based. The work experience element will be delivered in a professional setting.

Qualifications offered
Level 1 Award in Skills for the Hair and Beauty Sector, Level 1 Award in Employability Skills, Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace, English and Mathematics.

Progression opportunities
Level 2 Diploma in Hair or Level 2 Diploma in Make-up in September 2018.

- The Westminster Hospitality Traineeship

Prepare for a career in hospitality and customer service with a 10-week traineeship programme working with some
of the biggest names in Westminster’s service industry.

This traineeship will include:

  • A high quality work experience placement at London’s best hotels including The Ritz London Hotel and other reputable hotels.
  • Work preparation training including CV writing, interview practice, interpersonal skills and a guaranteed interview upon successful completion.
  • Industry-related qualifications as well as English and Maths if required.
  • An aim to progress onto a job, further education or an apprenticeship.

- The Football Coaching Traineeship

The Football Coaching Traineeship is an 11-week education and training programme that offers learners aged 16 and above who are interested in working in sports coaching the skills and experience that football clubs, and the wider sports coaching industry, are looking for.

Delivered in partnership with sports education specialists, TOCA, the traineeship comprises of a high-quality work experience placement, work preparation training and English and maths qualifications (if required).

Trainees are given the opportunity to build a CV and gain vital on-the-job experience along with industry-recognised qualifications. All of which makes them ‘work ready’ – boosting their chances of gaining employment as well as improving their long-term prospects.

 

What particular skills, experience or prior qualifications are required?
Little to no work experience in Football Coaching, qualified at Level 2 or below / no qualifications

What are the entry requirements or restrictions?
You are eligible for this programme if you are unemployed, aged 16 and above (target audience aged 19-24 years old), Ready for work within six months

What topics does the course cover?
The course covers Football Coaching, Employability Skills, Health and Safety in the Workplace, First Aid, Functional Skills English, Functional Skills Mathematics

How, where and when will learners be taught and assessed?
Employability Skills, Health and Safety, First Aid and Functional Skills will be classroom-based and delivered throughout week 1 and every Monday and Tuesday in the following weeks. The Football Coaching element will be delivered in a sports hall.

On completion of the course, what qualifications will a learner get?
Level 2 Certificate in Sport, Level 1 Award in Employability Skills, Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace, First Aid, Functional Skills English, Functional Skills Mathematics

What are the progression or employment opportunities following this course?
Guaranteed interview for a paid position with TOCA
