We offer a range of courses in education and training, assessing and quality assurance.

Our courses provide the first steps towards further study and offer a range of progression routes into teaching and/or other training roles and employment. 

We can help prepare you for your classroom career with our teacher training courses specifically aimed at those working in or wishing to work in the adult learning sector.

The professional qualifications delivered by our experienced tutors will help build your confidence as well as provide opportunities to develop your theoretical knowledge and practical skills.  Our tutors bring years of experience from schools, further education colleges, corporate training and staff development. Our teacher training courses provide the first steps towards further study and offer a range of progression routes into teaching and/or other training roles and employment.  For strong candidates (subject to interview and assessment) we may be able to offer voluntary teaching hours to support completion of the level 4 Certificate in Education qualification.

Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training

Are you currently working in a teaching or training role? Is it time your practice and experience were accredited? Do you want to continue developing your practical skills and continue your professional journey into teaching? Or have you completed the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and wish to progress? If you answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions, the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is your next step. In this course, you will be invited to engage rigorously with relevant theory and apply it to your classroom practice. On completion of the 30 hours teaching practice required on this course – either in paid employment or voluntary roles - you will undoubtedly leave with greater professional competence and knowledge. You will gain a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality and diversity, and meeting the needs of all learners. You will also address the use of assessment and the creation of inclusive learning resources, an area of expertise at WAES with our dynamic Diversity and Inclusion department.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

If you are interested in becoming qualified assessor then this is the course for you. Work at your own pace. Once qualified you may be able to work for a college, training provider or work as a freelancer. As a qualified assessor, you will be able to assess learners in colleges and /or in the workplace. This accredited qualification is a knowledge-based and practical qualification, designed for those who want to learn assessing competence in the work place but also to be more understanding of the practices and principles of assessment. The course is suitable for anyone who is responsible for assessing progress in the work environment.

If you are interesed in becoming quallified assessor then this is the course for you. Work at your own pace. Once qualified you may be able to work for a college, training provider or work as a freelancer. As a qualified assessor, you will be able to assess learners in colleges and /or in and realistic working environment. This accredited qualification is a knowledge-based and practical qualification, designed for those who want to learn assessing competence in a vocational context e.g. realistic working environment (RWE) and/or college environment but also to be more understanding of the practices and principles of assessment.

Once qualified you may be able to work for a college, training provider or work as a freelancer. As a qualified assessor, you will be able to assess learners in a vocational context e.g. in colleges AND in the workplace. This accredited qualification is a knowledge-based and practical qualification, designed for those who want to learn assessing competence in vocational context AND the work place but also to be more understanding of the practices and principles of assessment. Please note, to achieve this full certificate, you must show evidence of assessing in both a vocational context AND in the workplace.

This introductory course will offer you the chance to learn about the basics of the classroom and the role and responsibilities of a teacher. Working with your classmates and tutor in a supportive, collegiate environment, you will develop the basic skills required for a career in the classroom, but also your confidence and presence as you learn how to manage the learning space and facilitate learning, both face-to-face and in the online or hybrid classroom.
