This advanced level course is a mid-level accounting qualification, ideal for anyone who is looking to advance their existing knowledge of accounting. This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education , and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?

This is a Level 3 course, therefore, learners will need to have previously achieved - English Level 2 writing, speaking and Listening skills and Mathematics Level 2 or GCSE English or Mathematics to undertake this qualification. You will need to have achieved the Level 2 Accountancy course prior to starting this Level 3 course. Additionally, you should have good digital IT skills. You will need to have an interview with the Team before you are enrolled.

What topics does the course cover?

There are a number of units to complete including · Business Awareness –Business types and legal framework, Internal and external environment on businesses and their performance and decision making, Professional Ethics and sustainability, impact of new technology in accounting and data management, communicating information to stakeholders. · Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements – accounting principles and accounting preparation, advance double entry bookkeeping, acquisition and disposal of non-current assets, depreciation calculations, period end adjustments, extended Trial Balance, Financial statements for Sole Traders and Partnerships, using profitability ratios, incomplete records and information, Management Accounting Techniques – management accounting within organisations, dealing with costs, attribute costs according to organisational requirements, investigating deviations from budgets, spreadsheet techniques to provide to management, short term decision making and cash management. · Tax Processes for Business – legislation requirements relating to VAT, VAT Returns, Principles of payroll, reporting information within the organisation. · Synoptic assessment – you will revisit as an external assessment – Business Awareness, Financial Accounting and Management Accounting. British Values is embedded throughout each session.

How will I be taught and assessed?

Blended learning -Using Mindful Education – an accounting online platform. Weekly sessions either face to face or online. Students must successfully achieve all units including the Synoptic assessment to achieve this qualification. All units are externally assessed (Computer Based Assessment) and externally marked. Results for computer marked assessments are released by the AAT within 6 weeks. We have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this course through our flexible Online and In Class model. Online, you will study award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer - meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Lessons last for around 45 minutes and are accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, downloadable lesson materials and interactive case studies help to enhance the learning experience further and learners should expect to spend around 5-6 hours studying independently online each week. In Class, you benefit from regular classes with a tutor. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with classmates will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation that comes from being part of a group.

This Level 3 course is part of the National Skills Fund initiative and is fully funded for eligible learners. Alternatively, you can apply for an advanced learner loan to cover the cost of studying this course. Please ask a member of staff for more information. You will need access to a home computer or laptop and a reliable internet source.

By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
