The Amazon Web Services (AWS) re/Start program is a full-time, classroom-based skills development and training program run in collaboration with Amazon Web Services that prepares individuals for careers in the cloud and connects them to potential employers.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
A technology background is not required to apply and the program is focused on unemployed or underemployed individuals. To apply for the programme, you must meet the following Eligibility Requirements: full-time availability to attend training Monday-Friday for the course duration (12 weeks); ability to start a full-time job after course completion with the legal right to work & live in the UK; have a minimum of 5 GCSEs grate A*- C (or equivalent); excitement to launch a career in cloud computing.
What topics does the course cover?
Individuals graduating from the AWS re/Start program are equipped with valuable cloud infrastructure and software skills. The programme will cover: AWS Core Services and infrastructure components; how to monitor, measure and report on infrastructure load and performance; designing, coding and testing simple programs/scripts using Python and Bash; configuring basic network components; database maintenance and security configurations.AWS re/Start also focuses on building professional skills such as adaptive communication, time management, and collaboration. The programme mission is to build a diverse pipeline of entry-level cloud talent.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Each cohort of learners will be taught by accredited trainers to complete their cloud training. Through scenario-based learning, hands-on labs, and coursework, learners can gain the technical and soft skills they need for an entry-level cloud role. AWS re/Start also provides learners with resume and interview coaching to prepare them for employer meetings and interviews.To graduate, individuals must demonstrate the required knowledge, understanding and practical skills. Learners will be assessed at the end of the course through the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification exam.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
The programme is offered at no cost to learners. In order to practice your skills as homework, you will need access to a laptop (or similar), or be able to use the technology resources provided in the WAES centres. Learners will be given complimentary access to the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification practice exams and full exams (no additional cost).

The AWS re/Start learning path is designed to prepare students for the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification exam, and to be job-ready for entry-level cloud positions.
