What is the course about?
On this single session, you will be introduced to hand building techniques used to make ceramic objects and sculpture, through practical demonstration and guidance and have a go at making your own object in clay.

No.
What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This course is designed for complete beginners with an interest in ceramics and would like to know more. You don’t need any prior experience.
What topics does the course cover?
You will learn hand building techniques and how to make a ceramic object.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Learners will receive feedback on progress from the tutor on a regular basis. At the end of the course learners will assess their individual progress and progression options with the tutor.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
Materials will be provided for this taster session.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be able to make a simple sculpture or other object in clay. You will be able to know about progression options on offer at WAES.

You can develop your skills further on one of our specialist Ceramics courses such as the Sculptural Ceramics short course or take an accredited course starting in April or September 2023.
