What is the course about?
This course is for the absolute beginner in baking. if You would love to learn the basics of bread and cake making, but would like to learn it at pace that is suitable for you, then this is the course for you. You will be shown step by step how to assemble your ingredients, how to learn the skills of baking and how to overcome some of the tricky issues that occur for a novice baker.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This course is only suitable for beginners, it is not suitable for those with experience in baking.
What topics does the course cover?
Basic and simple baking techniques, organizational skills, presentation, health and safety, shopping for ingredients and stocking your cupboard.
How will I be taught and assessed?
You will be taught by watching practical demonstrations and then preparing recipes yourself. Your tutor will assess your practical progress and provide you with hints and tips on cooking techniques.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
You must supply ingredients for each session (at a cost of under a tenner), apron, and tea towel, a file for recipes, a pen and a container to take food home in.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be able to bake simple breads and cakes to a good standard. The course will also build your confidence in baking so that you would feel able to attend additional courses to help further hone your skills.
