What is the course about?
This course will help to to improve your basic maths skills. It will help you gain confidence in supporting your children in their maths studies, help you with home budgeting and managing your finances. You will also be able to apply these skills in the work-place, and there is a clear pathway to maths qualifications.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
The course is delivered once a week over 2.5 hours at is aimed at E1 and E2 level. This is a non accredited course.
What topics does the course cover?
Using numbers and the number system – whole numbers, the 4 operations, fractions and decimals. Using common measures, shape and space. Handling information and data. This will be applied to practical real life situations.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Your tutor will be using small group and pairwork. All our classes are equipped with an interactive whiteboard making learning fun and more effective. You will be given handouts and homework on a regular basis using both calculator and non- calculator skills to meet your needs based on your diagnostic assessment.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
There are no costs attached to this course, however we expect you to provide your own stationary and calculator.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be more confident in a range of mathematical skills and you may be able to progress to a functional skills qualification in maths.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
You may be eligible to enrol on E3 Functional Skills courses in February or September entry.
