What is the course about?
This 8 week programme will provide you with the essential skills and knowledge to become a qualified Personal Trainer through quality training and expert tutors. In undertaking this Level 3 Diploma In Fitness Instructing and Personal Training course, you will be trained to a professional level in planning, instructing and delivering safe and effective exercise programmes. You will develop your knowledge and skills in the fitness industry and launch yourself into a new career pathway.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This course is being offered at Level 3 and although we don’t require you to have qualifications already, we strongly recommend you arrive with some experience of gym-based exercises including free weights. You will need to have a suitable level of fitness and strength as physical exertion is inevitably an essential part of the programme. Being able to communicate well (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) is also a basic skill set which you should be equipped with before joining the programme.
What topics does the course cover?
The Level 3 Diploma in Fitness Instructing and Personal Training is made up of two qualifications; Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym) and Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training. Some of the areas covered in this course are; LEVEL 2: Anatomy and physiology for exercise, Principles of exercise, fitness and health, Planning gym-based exercise LEVEL 3: Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health, Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme, Programming personal training with clients, Delivering personal training sessions.
How will I be taught and assessed?
This course consists of a combination of classroom and gym based teaching and practical sessions with continual feedback and support from an expert Tutor. As this is an 8 week intensive programme, you will be required to carry out a significant amount of self-study. You will also be assessed through the following; Coursework, Multiple Choice Examination, Portfolio of Evidence and Practical Demonstration/Assignment.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
You will need to be a member of a gym or have access to gym facilities consisting of cardiovascular equipment and a range of free-weights in order to practice the skills learnt during the sessions. For the duration of the course, participants will get free access to the gym on their two study days, plus two extra sessions each week.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be trained to a professionally competent level, enabling you to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes developing your skills and knowledge to pursue a career in personal training.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
This is an ideal opportunity for you to venture into becoming self-employed, going into full-time/part-time employment or progression onto Advanced Personal Training, Exercise Referral, Exercise Programmes for Older Adults/Disabled Clients, Supporting Pre and Postnatal Clients with Exercise and Nutrition or a varied range of specialist Fintenss Instructors i.e. Pilates, Yoga, Strength and Conditioning.
