What is the course about?
The content of the course is intended to provide learners with an introduction to the business and retail sector, equipping learners with knowledge specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills. The course is designed to support progression to further learning and ultimately to work in business and administration or other related sectors.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is an Entry Level 3 course. Learners need to have Entry Level 3 English level reading and writing and Entry Level 3 speaking and listening English skills. Additionally, you should have at least basic digital IT skills.
What topics does the course cover?
There are two mandatory units that you will need to complete - communication skills for work and working in business and retail. In addition, there will be opportunities to meet and discuss various job roles with employers.
How will I be taught and assessed?
This course is delivered face to face in class. You will produce a portfolio of evidence which you will upload to an on line e portfolio, your evidence will then be assessed by your Tutor. You will be expected to attend each session in college when appropriate and meet deadlines for homework submissions.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
Learners on a low income or in receipt of applicable benefits will not be required to pay a fee. You will need regular access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course. Once enrolled, learners will be able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office and will be given access to Microsoft office 365.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will achieve an accredited Entry Level 3 Award in Business Skills and Retail. You will have also developed digital skills such as saving word documents on a computer or laptop, research skills and using the internet safely.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
This qualification offers progression onto the Level 1 Diploma in Business.
