What is the course about?

This Entry 3 Award is intended to provide learners with a broad introduction to the hair and beauty sector, equipping learners with underpinning knowledge and skills specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills.This is a short, taster course into the sector.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?

This is an Entry 3 beginners course so you do not need any previous hair or make-up experience. You are required to have Entry Level 3 English and maths and basic IT skills.

What topics does the course cover?

In this course you will gain a general introduction to the Hair and Beauty sector covering health and safety in a salon environment for employers, employee and clients. You will also learn about skin care and how top prepare for make-up.You will carry some hairstyling techniques and plaiting hair.

How will I be taught and assessed?

The course will be taught through a blend of practical work, demonstrations and theory classes delivered on site in class and on line. You will build a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed in order to demonstrate your competance and gain your qualification. You will need access to reliable internet and the use of a PC or laptop in order to attend the online sessions.

Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?

Products and tools are provided. Yu will be expected to bring a pen and note paper to each class.

By the end of the course what should I be able to do?

You will have learnt about the importance of Health and Safety in the industry and how to work safely and hygienically in the salon. You will be able to prepare the skin and client for a consultation for make-upYou will carry out basic hairstyles one with plaiting

What are the progression opportunities following this course?

Upon successful completion of this course you can progress onto Level 1 course in Make-up and Media Make-up if your level of English is at the right level.The level of English required to move onto Level 1 Hair and Make-up is is Entry 3 Functional Skills
