What is the course about?
This course is designed to help you improve your practical maths skills. You will be able to apply the skills learnt in everyday life both at home and in the workplace.
Is a pre-enrolment interview or assessment required for this course?
What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is a Entry Level 3 course, before you can enrol, you will need to take an initial assessment and have a short interview with one of our staff, so we can ensure this is the right level for you.
What topics does the course cover?
The course includes the understanding of and the use of fractions, percentages,the calculating area and quantities. Along with how to use whole numbers with up to two significant figures. You will learn how to add, subtract and understand measurements in practical every day situations.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Your tutor will be using pairs and small groups to work. All our classes are equipped with an interactive whiteboard making learning fun and more effective. You will be given handouts and homework on a regular basis.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
There are no costs attached to this course, however we would expect you to provide your own stationary and calculator.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will be ready to take the relevant Functional Skills assessment and progress onto your chosen vocational pathway.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
You will be able to progress onto Functional Skills Maths Level 1.
