What is the course about?
This course is designed to help you improve your practical maths skills. You will be able to apply the skills learnt in everyday life, both at home and in the workplace.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is a Level 2 course and you may be referred to attend, as part of your initial assessment for your chosen vocational class or when progressing to a higher level.
What topics does the course cover?
The course covers the following amongst other things - understanding and using fractions and percentages, calculating area and quantities and working with numbers.
How will I be taught and assessed?
You will attend one class basic session a week, where your tutor will be using pair and small group work to support your learning.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
The course is free but you will be expected to supply your own additional resources. Access to a PC, laptop or compatible tablet with internet is essential for the online element. If you do not have internet access we strongly recommend you make full use of our learning centres or your local library.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will be ready to take the relevant Functional Skills assessment and progress onto your chosen vocational pathway.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
You will need 85% attendance and have successfully passed the Entry Level 3 Functional Skills exam to progress onto Maths Skills Level 1.
