The course covers all the language skills, although the main focus is on improving your speaking and listening. Grammar is included as an integral part.

This is a level 1 course. Before you can enrol, you will need to have an interview with one of our initial assessors to make sure the course is suitable for you. If you already study with us, your current tutor can help you to enrol.

The course is mainly online. You will be expected to do homework regularly and will make use of our Virtual Learning Environment (Teams). When you are ready, you will take Skills for Life exams in speaking and listening.

Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?

You will need access to a computer and some IT skills. Pens, pencils and writing paper. A folder to keep all your course materials. An English dictionary - your teacher can give advice and suggestions.

By the end of the course what should I be able to do?

This course will help you to follow the gist of verbal communication on straightforward topics, obtain relevant detail from verbal communication on a straightforward topic and follow verbal instructions correctly for a given purpose.
