What is the course about?
You will develop the practical skills and knowledge needed to make floral arrangements, using a range of materials and techniques, to a saleable standard.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
It is necessary for you to have completed Level 1 Floristry, or have worked in a florist for at least 5-10 weeks for basic floristry knowledge. You will need to have completed Entry Level 1 Math and English qualification.
What topics does the course cover?
You will develop more manipulation techniques and practical skills to design and produce a range of floral contemporary table decor and traditional free standing arrangements. You will produce a variety of arrangements using fresh plant material and a range of mechanics to support the designs.
How will I be taught and assessed?
The Level 2 Certificate covers 4 units of practical, theory and design work. Learners will be working on their given project brief guided by the tutor and peers; a valuable resource during your study. There will also be group discussions and evaluations. Independant research will be encouraged and expected.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
The fee covers most of the mechanics of floristry such as oasis, containers, wires etc. Learners will be expected to purchase their own specialist flowers and foliage (guidance will be given by the tutor at the first session) and are expected to build their own set of designs.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be able to produce a range of traditional and contemporary floral arrangements with a strong design element. You will also produce a portfolio of work which includes basic stage-by-stage construction plans of each arrangement, photographs, drawings, and mood boards.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
We encourage Learners to take up work in the Industry or through self-employment, and join the Level 3 Floristry course. English and aths will be incorporated into the course, through discussions, theory work, calculations and costing, collated folder and opportunities to use the IT Learning Centre, as well as library.
