What is the course about?
This course is designed for beginners who wish to take up floristry as a new skill or hobby. You will work with fresh plant material and flowers to create traditional and contemporary floral displays.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This course is designed for beginners. You should be able to recognise basic flowers by name.
What topics does the course cover?
Health and Safety, Conditioning method, Basic Principle of design, Button holes, Linear Arrangement, Horizontal Table Arrangement, Semi-Crescen table arrangement.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Your tutor will demonstate techniques and most of the time will be spent making the arragements. Discussions among class peers, and practical elements will be observed by the tutor.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
You will be advised by your tutor on the range and type of foliage and flowers needed for your arrangements, which you will bring to lessons. In addition, a pair of scissors, floral knife, wires and mechanics will be provided by the centre. Please bring a camera, note book and pen to record your progress
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be able to create the range of different displays for various occasions, for family and friends, and as a leisure hobby.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
Once completed, you can progress onto Floristry Level One Award or attend other short courses.
