What is the course about?

The “Full Stack Bootcamp” is a 16-week, full-time training programme run in collaboration with Code Institute that prepares learners for careers in the digital workforce as software developers.

Is a pre-enrolment interview or assessment required for this course?

No.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?

As part of the enrolment process your skills, experience and prior qualification will be discussed and assessed, including a 5-6 hour coding challenge that must be completed over two days. To qualify for this course, you need to be unemployed.

What topics does the course cover?

By learning Full Stack Development, learners equip themselves with the necessary knowledge to treat all layers of the modern software stack: The frontend - This is the presentation layer; it is what is seen and experienced whenever a website or application is in use. Within frontend development, learners will gain the knowledge needed to build visually appealing and intuitive applications. The backend - This is the data layer; it is the logic and information that underpins applications we use. Within backend development, learners gain the knowledge to create algorithms and business rules to manipulate and manage data. Full Stack APIs & Integrations - For an application to work, the presentation layer and data layer must be able to communicate. This is done through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Within full stack development, learners become proficient in integrating the frontend and backend.

How will I be taught and assessed?

Learning takes place on the Code Institute platform with academic support available from facilitators and instructors from WAES. The first few weeks of classes will take place in person, while later weeks will include a mixture on face-to-face and online classes. This is a skills-based programme tailored to specific employer needs. It does not need to a qualification.

Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?

You will need access to a computer and an internet connection.

By the end of the course what should I be able to do?

This is a skills-based programme tailored to specific employer needs; it does not lead to a qualification. On the programme, learners are assessed based on three assessed projects that will form their employment portfolio, so that they can be used to present to potential employers when applying for roles such as: Junior Website developer, Python developer, Full stack developer, JavaScript developer, Software Engineer and Software Developer.
