What is the course about?
This course is designed to help you improve your practical maths skills. You will be able to apply the skills learnt in everyday life both at home and in the workplace.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is a Entry Level course, before you can enrol, you will need to take an initial assessment and have a short interview with one of our staff, so we can ensure this is the right level for you.
What topics does the course cover?
The course includes the understanding of and the use of fractions and decimals. Along with how to use whole numbers. You will learn how to add, subtract and understand measurements, and handle data in practical every day situations.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Your tutor will be using pair and small group work. All our classes are equipped with an interactive whiteboard making learning fun and more effective. You will be given handouts and homework on a regular basis.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
The course is free but you will be expected to supply your own additional resources. Access to a PC, laptop or compatible tablet with internet is essential for the online element. If you do not have internet access we strongly recommend you make full use of our learning centres or your local library.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will be ready to take the relevant Functional Skills assessment and progress onto your chosen vocational pathway.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
You will be able to progress onto Functional Skills Maths Level 1.
