Take your Graphic Design and software skills to the next level on this intensive Level 3 course. Develop your practice as a creative designer and produce a portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills though graphic communication.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
Level 3. This is an advanced course, ideal if you have completed a level 2 Graphic Design course or have some graphic design experience and want to push your creativity to the next level. You MUST be reasonably confident using Photoshop and have some experience using Illustrator and/or InDesign. English needs to be at Level 2.
What topics does the course cover?
.A great opportunity to explore your creative practice and produce a unique design portfolio. You will explore graphic design through inspiring challenges and project briefs and learn how to communicate information and visuals through the power of graphic design. You are encouraged to contextualise your creativity through guided research activities. You will explore creative design through illustration, working with templates, branding & advertising, Layout and typography (book and magazine). We use the Adobe Creative Suite throughout focusing on Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign with some experience using Dreamweaver and Flash
How will I be taught and assessed?
You will be taught through lectures, discussions, site visits, projects, and plenty of practical studio work. You will spend one day in the design studio under intensive tuition and the 2nd day will be gallery visits, workshop days, tutorials, software practice and developing project work. You will keep a sketchbook or digital journal of your development work. Your work is assessed at the end of each challenge or project.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
You will need a portable hard drive or large USB stick to back up your work, some drawing materials and a sketchbook. You should have access to the main Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be able to plan and generate a broad range of creative graphic design solutions utilising the Adobe Creative suite including commercial packaging, logos, advertising, and creative Layout design
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
An ideal springboard towards a foundation course, university degree, or career change. Many of our learners have gone on to study at the top London Universities or have gained employment as designers, art workers and other creative jobs.
