Is a pre-enrolment interview or assessment required for this course?
What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This course is suitable for beginners or anyone who would like to improve their skills. To join requires no particular prior qualifications, but some experience would be an advantage. You should be able to recognise basic flowers by name.
What topics does the course cover?
Conditioning method, Basic Principle of design, hand tieds for all occasions traditional and contemporary, Health and Safety, .
How will I be taught and assessed?
Your tutor will demonstate techniques and most of the time will be spent making the arragements. Discussions among class peers, and practical elements will be observed by the tutor.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
You will be advised by your tutor on the range and type of foliage needed for your arrangements, which you will bring each lesson. In addition, a pair of scissors, floral knife, wires and mechanics will be provided by the centre. Please bring a camera, note book and pen to record your progress
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be able to create the range of different hand tied displays, for various occasions, for family and friends, and as a leisurely hobby and for entering the floristry industry.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
Once completed, you can progress onto Floristry Level One Award or attend other short courses.
