What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is a Level 1 course. Learners need to have Entry Level 3 English level reading and writing and Level 1 speaking and listening English skills. Additionally, you should have at least basic digital IT skills.
What topics does the course cover?
There are a number of units to complete including Understanding the benefits and risks of using accounting software, Setting up accounts, Recording bank and cash transactions and Producing reports using accounting software.
How will I be taught and assessed?
This course is a mixture of on line learning with some classroom activities where possible. You will be expected to have your own computer or laptop and a reliable source of internet. The course is assessed by on line examinations.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
Learners on a low income or in receipt of applicable benefits will not be required to pay a fee. You will need regular access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course. Once enrolled, learners will be able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office and will be given access to Microsoft office 365. You will need a non programable calculator.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of this course you will be able to make entries using popular accountancy software and in particular be able to set up the general ledger and process cash payments and receipts. Importantly the course also teaches how to download reports which are required by companies for analysis.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
This qualification offers progression on to the Level 1 Bookkeeping course or the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
