The course is designed to help you gain the skills and confidence to build a career in accountancy. It is also an ideal progression course if English is not your first language and you are looking to pursue a career in Accountancy.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
You will not need office or accounting experience as this is an introductory course. If you haven't got a formal qualification, you will be required to sit an initial assessment in English, Maths and ICT. You are advised to bring certificates for qualifications held with you to enrolment.
What topics does the course cover?
The qualification is made up of four skills and knowledge units: Mathematics for accounting. Accounting in a professional environment. Essential accounting procedures. Creating business documents.
How will I be taught and assessed?
There will be classroom based activities, and you will also have your skills and knowledge tested using a computer based assessment (CBA).
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
Pen and Paper, folder for notes, a calculator and a USB. Handouts will be given.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
Gaining the AAT Access qualification provides the gateway to work in a range of situations, from small local firms to large, multinational companies. The course would suit people wishing to change career or those who have never worked in an office or accounting environment, or where English is their second language.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
On successful completion of the Level 1 programme, you may be able to progress onto the AAT Certificate in Accounting Level 2.
