What is the course about?
Learn to produce a range of traditional floral arrangements, both free standing and tabletop arrangments. You arrangements will be underpinned by research, theory and experimentation of ideas. You will develop the practical skills and knowledge needed to make floral arrangements, using a range of materials and techniques, to a saleable standard. Perfect for stepping into the industry.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
You are not expected to have any experience in Floristry, just an interest and commitiment to the subject. Your will have or be working towards a level 1 in English and maths, and have IT skills which will enable you to partake in online teaching via TEAMs
What topics does the course cover?
You will develop more manipulation techniques and practical skills to design and produce a range of floral traditional free standing and table arrangements. You will produce a variety of arrangements using fresh plant material and a range of mechanics to support the designs.
How will I be taught and assessed?
The Level 1 Award is designed for beginners and covers practical, theory and design work. You will be taught via a combination of in class practical lessons and some online theory lessons. There will also be group discussions and evaluations.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
The fee covers most of the mechanics of floristry such as oasis, containers, wires etc, You will be expected to purchase your own specialist flowers and foliage (guidance will be given by the tutor at the first session)
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
You will be able to produce a range of traditional floral arrangements with a strong design element to a good standard. You will also produce a portfolio of work which includes basic stage-by-stage construction plans of each arrangement
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
You will be able to apply for a level 2 floristry course, which will prepare you for working in the floristry industry
