What is the course about?
This course is designed to help you improve your practical maths skills. You will be able to apply the skills learnt in everyday life both at home and in the workplace.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is a Level 1 course, before you can enrol, you will need to take an initial assessment and have a short interview with one of our staff, so we can ensure this is the right level for you.
What topics does the course cover?
The course covers the following amongst other things: understanding and using fractions & percentages, calculating area and quantities and woking with numbers.
How will I be taught and assessed?
The course will use a combination of class based and online learning. You will be required to attend a two hour class based session each week. The remainder of the course will be completed at home (or in our learning resource centre) using a specialist online training package.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
There are no costs attached to this course, however we would expect you to provide your own stationary. Your tutor will also advise you of any books that may be useful.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will be ready to take the level 1 Functional Skills Maths test.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
We are happy to support any learner that successfully completes this course to move on to the Level 2 course
