What is the course about?
This Level 2 course is a blended model of classroom delivery and home study. It is designed for those learners with some accountancy knowledge and experience and have a proven track record of independent learning and passion for the subject. This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry-level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration, covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting. The AAT Accounting Qualifications provide practical, internationally recognized finance and accountancy skills that can open doors for you in any industry across the world. You can progress into work, studying at level 3 and above either independently or as part of an advanced apprenticeship with a local employer. What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is a level 2 course and you will need written and verbal English skills at Level 2 and maths skills at level 1 as a minimum. Having experience of working within business and accountancy and work based ICT skills would be beneficial.

How will I be taught and assessed?
This is a classroom and home study based qualifciation and you will be assessed through class based exercises, homework tasks and formal exams. It is vital you maintain good study skills and complete homework tasks weekly.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
You will need access to a computer at home so you can practice and complete the homework tasks. You will need to purchase one or two text books and a memory stick to store your documents would be helpful.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable a student to seek employment with confidence and/or to progress to the next level of learning. A student completing this qualification will develop skills in double-entry bookkeeping and will understand how to use journals, control accounts and a trial balance. Students will also learn how to use an accounting software package, how to process financial information in accordance with company procedures and schedules, and how to provide information to colleagues, suppliers and/or customers as required. The finance, accountancy, business and communications skills developed in the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting can lead to employment as: An accounts administrator, an accounts assistant , an accounts payable clerk, a purchase/sales ledger clerk, a trainee accounting technician and a trainee finance assistant The accountancy and finance knowledge developed in this qualification is also the underpinning knowledge needed for the higher-level accountancy and financial skills developed in the AAT Advanced and Professional Accounting Qualifications: AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting and the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting
