What is the course about?
This level 2 course is for learners already competent using computers and information technology for a range of purposes for both home and work related tasks. You will develop your skills further in understanding how to be productive using technology and advance your skills and knowledge using recognised software in word processing, spreadsheets and presentations. You will need a reliable internet source and a computer or laptop, but some learners maybe entitled to support with new equipment.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is a level 2 class and you will be expected to already hold a level 1 IT User, or level 1 Functional Skills IT qualification or be able to demonstrate a good level of competency. A reasonable understanding of file management is required and the core Microsoft products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is essential.
What topics does the course cover?
During the course you will look at using office software to improve your productivity as well as develop you skills in using three of the most common office software products - Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, using Office 216 and Office 365
How will I be taught and assessed?
This course is offered as an on line programme where you will receive tuition and direction at set times during the week from your tutor. You will need to be able to access this direct teaching input, engaging with your tutor and peers and have time to practice your skills as homework. You will be required to upload a portfolio of your work that will be set as a series of assignments that you will need to complete in a timely manner throughout the duration of the programme. Once enrolled, learners will be able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office and will be given access to Microsoft office 365.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
Learners on a low income or in receipt of applicable benefits will not be required to pay a fee. We may also be able to provide a laptop*. You will need regulate access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course. Once enrolled, learners will be able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office and will be given access to Microsoft office 365.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will be highly skilled across a range of software, such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word Processing. You will know how and when to use IT effectively. You will have developed a range or transferable skills to enhance any job role.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
Progression would be to a more specialist ICT roles at work or further study in a related field such as graphic design, cyber security or software development.
