The content of the course is designed for team leaders; to support the development of their skills in leading a team, making sure that the team's work achieves organisational objectives, and contributing to planning, problem solving and decision making.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is a Level 2 course, therefore, learners will need to have English Level 2 writing, speaking and Listening skills and Maths Level 2 or GCSE English or Maths to undertake this qualification. Additionally, you should have good digital IT skills. CMI qualifications at RQF Level 2 portray practical team leading skills and competences that are rated in academic terms as being comparable to GCSEs at A*- C grade You will need to have an interview with the Team before you are enrolled.
What topics does the course cover?
Some of the topics you will cover are as follows: Personal development as a team leader, Communicating with a team, Monitoring team performance, Controlling resources. Building work relationships, Developing team needs, Providing customer service, Being a team leader, Introduction to team leading and Understanding corporate social responsibility.
How will I be taught and assessed?
This course will be assessed by producing an e-portfolio of evidence that proves your ability and competence to work as a Leader. You will also be observed by your Assessor. Delivery methods for the Diploma can include - Face to face and Blended on line learning. Assessment Methods should include - assignments, professional discussions, observations, work products and self-reflection activities.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
You will need a good internet connection at home and either a computer or laptop to complete on line sessions and assignments.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will achieve the CMI Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading qualification and you will have also developed digital skills such as saving word documents on a computer or laptop, research skills and using the internet safely.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
CMI would recommend the below qualifications as a possible progression route, once you have completed the Team Leading qualifications, either CMI Level 3 Qualifications in First Line Management or the CMI Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring.
