What is the course about?
This, two day a week, Diploma will teach you the underlying principles and practical skills required to become a hairdresser of women's hair. Different cutting, colouring and styling techniques will be developed using live models. Health and safety, salon reception, client consultation skills will underpin your practical skills, giving an comprehensive experience.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
The Level 2 course requires a commitment to hairdressing. It is ideal for those who have completed the Level 1 Award in hair and makeup, but beginners will be considered. You will have, or be working towards a Level 1 or above in English language and maths.
What topics does the course cover?
The Diploma is unit based and covers client consultation, shampoo and conditioning, different cutting techniques, styling and dressing techniques, colouring and perming. Health and safety and salon practices within the industry will underpin your practical skills.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Work will be set to improve your practical skills, knowledge and understanding. For practical elements, you will be observed by your tutor. All your work will be collected in a portfolio of evidence. Some units will be assessed through on-line tests. The course is assessed and verified by centre staff..
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
General products and equipment are supplied by the college. You will need to have or purchase your own combs, scissors, pens and folders.
