What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
The Award in Education and Training is a Level 3 course. You need to have a GCSE grade 4 in English and maths or a Level 2 functional skills qualification in English and Maths. You do not need to have any prior experience or qualifications in teaching to do this course.
What topics does the course cover?
The course covers the following topics: 1. The roles and responsibilities of a teacher/ trainer, 2. Inclusive teaching and learning, 3. Assessment
How will I be taught and assessed?
You will be taught in a face to face classroom and be assessed through written and spoken assessments which you will upload onto an online portfolio. You will also be assessed by a 15 minute micro teach session and 45 minute observation of teaching and learning. Your work will be internally and externally verified to ensure all the criteria are met.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
You will need to have stationary and a folder to organise your notes.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
The course is designed to prepare you to progress into a teaching training role in the post 16 sector.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
On completion of this course you can find employment in the post 16 sector. You may be able to progress onto a Level 4 or Level 5 teaching qualification.
