What is the course about?
The purpose of this qualification is to increase learners awareness and understanding of diabetes. By completing the qualification, learners will develop in-depth knowledge of diabetes which could support progression onto appropriate qualifications, and into relevant employment, in the health and social care sector.
Is a pre-enrolment interview or assessment required for this course?
What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
In order to undertake this course you must have English at Level 2. You will need to know how to use an elctrical devise such as a computer, laptop or tablet due to the delivery of the course being all on line. An interview will be required. You do not need previous expereince of qualification in the care of diabetes however this may be useful.
What topics does the course cover?
In this course you will study the following tpoics. The types, causes, signs and symptoms of diabetes. Anatomy and physiology. The impact of diabetes on individuals, others and society. The treatment and management of diabetes. Common complications of diabetes.
How will I be taught and assessed?
You will be provided with online learning materials which covers all aspects of your course. You will be required to complete assessments for each of the units within the course and submit these by the deadline dates provided at induction. You will be allocated an assessor at the start of your course and they will support you to ensure you have a successful outcome. IT skills will be developed throughout your course and basic English skills will be assessed and discussed on an ongoing basis.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
Level 3 courses are fully funded if you have not completed a full level 3 course before.If you have completed a level 3 course before but you are in receipt of out of work benefits or earn under £21,000 a year and live in London, the course is fully funded.If you have completed a level 3 course and earn over £21,000 a year, you will need to arrange for a loan cover the cost of the course yourself.Please enquire for more information.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
On successful completion of this course you will gain a Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes.
