Using Christmas foliage such as berries, pinecones, and holly, you'll learn to create a beautiful door wreath and dinner table arrangement on this short course.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?

This course is suitable for beginners and those who have some experience working with flowers. Suitable for new learners as a skill or hobby, or those who are familiar working with flowers and wish extend their skill base, to create beautiful arrangements for Christmas.

What topics does the course cover?

You will learn to recognise, name, and handle and care for fresh flowers and foliage. You will learn to make a Christmas door wreath and a Christmas dinner table arrangement.

How will I be taught and assessed?

Your tutor will demonstrate techniques and most of the time will be spent making the arrangements. There will be classroom discussions, and practical elements will be observed by the tutor. At the end of the course learners will assess their individual progress and progression with the tutor. Notes will be provided.

Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?

Materials will be provided for the course, but you may wish to bring items to personalise your arrangements: Christmas berries, roses, carnations, pinecones, cinnamon sticks, and ribbons. In addition, a pair of scissors, floral knife, wires and mechanics will be provided by the centre. Please bring a, notebook and pen, and use your phone camera to record your progress.

By the end of the course what should I be able to do?

You will be able to create, and take home, a Christmas door wreath and a flower arrangement for your dinner table.
