What is the course about?
During this course you will improve your maths skills. You will be able to apply these skills in everyday life, including in the workplace. You will take an Entry 3 exam at the end of this course.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
This is an Entry Level 3 course. Before you can enrol, you will need to have an assessment with one of our initial assessors to make sure the course is suitable for you. Please allow enough time for this to take place. This is a very popular course, enrol early to avoid disappointment.
What topics does the course cover?
The course covers the following topics: understanding to use whole numbers with up to two significant figures, understanding to use addition/subtraction in practical situations, recognise and use familiar measures, including time and money, use simple scales and measure to the nearest labelled division, know properties of simple 2-D and 3-D shapes.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Your tutor will use pair and small group work. All our classrooms are equipped with an interactive whiteboard making learning fun and more effective. You will be given handouts and homework on a regular basis.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
An A4 folder to keep your work, and pen and paper.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will be ready to take the Entry 3 Functional Skills Maths test. You will also have improved your maths skills.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
You will need 85% attendance and have successfully passed the Entry Level 3 Functional Skills exam to progress onto Maths Skills Level 1.
