What is the course about?

A chance to discover the many learning opportunities and enjoyable excursions in our neighbourhoods as well as exploring further afield - visiting parks, museums and galleries in London. Parents will develop confidence and knowhow to plan and carry out trips by public transport and increase their confidence in travelling and exploring London with their children. They will also learn how to make the most of these trips to enrich their children’s learning beyond the classroom.

Is a pre-enrolment interview or assessment required for this course?

No.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?

No prior experience is required.

What topics does the course cover?

Family Learning

How will I be taught and assessed?

There is no formal assessment. This is an online course and you will have access to an experienced tutor who will share the programme with you.

Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?

There are no costs, this workshop is free. You will need access to a Tablet, Smart phone or a PC (with audio). This course will be delivered through the platform Zoom or Teams. Pencils, pen and paper are needed.

By the end of the course what should I be able to do?

Parents/carers will have a better understanding of the school system in the UK, they will have developed their English language skills so they are better able to communicate with their children's school. They will be able to help their children to develop English (even if the parents/carers are not proficient in English themselves) and will develop awareness of the importance of continuing to use the first language at home.

What are the progression opportunities following this course?

You may wish to join more Family Learning workshops exploring how you can support your child’s learning; you may want to join some Community classes to improve your English and job opportunities.
