What is the course about?
A project focused course in painting, covering observation, composition, colour, tone and brush techniques using water-based mediums. Acrylic and watercolour will be the central mediums used and these will be complemented with drawing media. Learners can bring their own imagery to work from, or use the project and images provided by the tutor. The subjects will cover a wide range of sources to suit the individual learner, including: landscape, still life and imaginative compositions.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
The course is appropriate for all levels from beginner to advanced. No interview is required.

How will I be taught and assessed?
The teaching is structured to be informative and stimulating, the level of challenge gauged to meet the needs of individual learners. Teaching methods will include expert presentations, demonstrations and hand outs, group exercises and discussions, individual tuition and supportive feedback.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
The course fee covers all basic materials, however once the course has started your tutor will be happy to advise you should you wish use or purchase materials of your own.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
Create a painting composition using a variety of water-based painting techniques.
What are the progression opportunities following this course?
You may wish to continue with non accreditted painting classes, running on Thursdays. Alternatively, you could develop a wider approach to drawing and painting by doing any of the accredited drawing and painting
