What is the course about?
This course prepares you for the internationally recognised Cambridge English: Advanced ( CAE ) exam, accepted globally by leading companies, universities and organisations as a proof of high achievement. The course covers the complete range of high level language skills, as well as all the aspects of the exam.
Is a pre-enrolment interview or assessment required for this course?
What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?
The course is pitched at advanced level (C1 in The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In order to join the course you will need to be at least at upper intermediate level. You can do an online assessment to check your level.
What topics does the course cover?
The course covers the complete range of topics needed at advanced level, typical for CAE and determined by learners' individual needs. Using everyday and relevant context, you will prepare for all the five papers of the exam- Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of English.
How will I be taught and assessed?
You will be assessed by your class work and homework assignments, project work and self –study, regular progress checks, mock exams and ongoing monitoring. You will be given regular feedback on your performance and progress.
Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?
There are no compulsory materials, except a folder and a pen. You will be provided with necessary handouts and other resources. The teacher will advise you on self- study materials, which you may or may not choose to purchase, as well as free resources, which you will be encouraged to use.
By the end of the course what should I be able to do?
By the end of the course you will have developed general language skills at advanced level, become familiar with the exam format and trained in exam strategies. You will cover the language areas in order to pass the five parts of CAE: Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening and Speaking.
