What is the course about?

Using pre-loved items of clothing, you will learn how to apply design principles and sewing construction techniques to make a unique piece of upcycled, sustainable clothing. You will obtain the skills needed to create numerous design ideas and based using upcycling techniques. You will leave the course with a completed garment and technical file of samples.

Students will consider ethical and sustainable techniques and how individuals can play their part in stopping unwanted clothes going to landfill.

You will need to bring at least two of your own garments to use during this course.

No.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?

This course is designed for anyone with an interest in fashion design, sustainability, and would like to know more. You don’t need any prior experience.

What topics does the course cover?

- Design techniques based on upcycling
- Sewing techniques
- Hand embroidery and embellishment
- Ethical and sustainable techniques

How will I be taught and assessed?

Through demonstrations, discussions, workshop practice, one to one instruction and guidance..

Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?

Sewing materials will be provided. Please bring at least two of your own garments to use during this course for upcycling.

- Use upcycling techniques to make a unique piece of upcycled, sustainable clothing.
