What is the course about?
This AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) advanced level course is a mid-level accounting qualification, ideal for anyone who is looking to advance their existing knowledge of accounting. This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education, and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom. This Level 3 course is part of the National Skills Fund initiative and is fully funded for eligible learners living in Greater London. This is a Level 3 course, designed for learners who have a solid foundation in accounting and are ready to progress to more advanced topics. To enrol, you must have previously achieved:Functional Skills Level 2 in both English and Maths, or GCSE English and Maths (grade 4/C or above) and AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting with a Merit or higher. In addition, you should have confident digital and IT skills, as the course involves a significant element of online learning. All applicants are required to attend an interview with the course team before enrolment to ensure the course is the right fit and that you are fully prepared to succeed at Level 3.
The AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting covers a wide range of essential and more advanced accounting skills. It’s ideal for learners who have completed Level 2 and are ready to deepen their knowledge and take on more responsibility in an accounting or finance role. The course includes the following core units: Business Awareness – Learn how different types of businesses operate and how the accounting function contributes to an organisation’s success. Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements – Develop your ability to complete advanced bookkeeping tasks and prepare accounts for sole traders and partnerships. Management Accounting Techniques – Gain skills in costing, budgeting, and using management accounting information to support business decisions. Tax Processes for Businesses – Understand the key tax processes that impact businesses, including how to complete tax calculations and submissions.
We have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this course through our flexible Online and In Class model. Online, you will study award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer - meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Lessons are accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Practice questions, downloadable lesson materials and interactive case studies help to enhance the learning experience further and learners should expect to spend around 5-6 hours studying independently online each week. In Class you benefit from regular classes with a tutor - without having to commit to attending multiple evenings each week. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with classmates will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation that comes from being part of a group. This course is assessed through computer-based exams for each unit.
