Learners will have one wheel each. This course covers all techniques including basic beginner-level skills such as clay preparation, centring, throwing to cylinder, making bowls and turning a foot ring. More advanced learners will be challenged with individual targets.
Suitable for all levels, no prior knowledge of pottery is required to attend this course. The course is ideal for beginners or for those who have some understanding of wheel throwing and would like to improve their skills.
Clay preparation, cantering, cylinders, bowls, and turning foot-rings. Advanced topics include making lids, casseroles, spouts, bottles, plates, cutting and joining.
Learners will receive feedback on progress from the tutor on a regular basis. At the end of the course learners will assess their individual progress and progression with the tutor.
All equipment, decoration and glaze materials are included, we do make a small charge (priced per kilo) for the clay used before the first firing only.
By the end of the course learners will be able to centre and make wheel thrown shapes with some confidence. More experienced learners will have improved their existing skill set.
This course will enable learners to progress on to other wheel-based courses or improve their skills for self-employment.
