What is the course about?
This qualification encourages an understanding of the knowledge and the skills needed to care for young children. It covers children’s growth, learning and development. There are also units to help with self-development.
This is a Level 1 Award course. Learners need to have Entry Level 3 Functional skills in English level reading, writing and speaking . Additionally, you should have at least basic digital IT skills.
You will explore a range of topics such as Understanding Growth and development of young children, understanding about Practical health and safety when with young. You may also Investigate a vocational area and understand the importance of listening to and talking with a young child.
You will be expected to have your own computer or laptop and a reliable source of internet. The course is an e portfolio course, where you will study the units and build a portfolio of evidence along with your tutor. You will be expected to attend each session in college when appropriate and meet deadlines for homework submissions.
Learners on a low income or in receipt of applicable benefits will not be required to pay a fee. You will need regular access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course. Once enrolled, learners will be able to download a free copy of Microsoft Office and will be given access to Microsoft office 365.
By the end of the course you will achieve an accredited Level 1 Award qualification. You will understand the range of job opportunities in the child care sector and be able to plan your next course You will have also developed digital skills such as saving word documents on a computer or laptop, research skills and using the internet safely.
This qualification offers progression into the Diploma Level 1.
