What is the course about?
This Level 3 qualification is designed for learners who have successfully completed a Level 2 course in Software and Programming and wish to further develop and extend their digital and IT skills. IT prepares learners for IT roles, covering network engineering, project management, access control, ethical hacking, network management and much more.
As this is a Level 3 course, learners are required to have completed a Level 2 course in software development or programming within the last 12 months. English and maths at Level 2 provide a strong foundation for successful progression, along with an interest in technology and problem-solving.
The course covers a range of essential digital and IT skills designed to support learners in today’s technology driven workplace. Learners will explore key cybersecurity concepts and practical techniques to protect systems and data. They will examine digital skills for career progression, gaining an understanding of how evolving job roles and industry demands are shaping the modern workforce. The course also introduces the principles of computer programming, developing confidence with text based coding and enabling learners to design and build their own simple programs.
This course is delivered on-site through classroom-based sessions at set times during the week. You will receive direct teaching and support from your tutor, with opportunities to engage with peers. Learning is unit-based, with a final assessed assignment at the end of each unit. You will also be expected to practise and develop your skills outside of class through independent study.
There are no costs associated with this course. It is essential that you have regular access to a computer or laptop and reliable internet service to complete this course.
You will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers and covers a wide range and use of different digital technologies, systems and software. You will extend your digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the within Software Development.
You will need 90% attendance and have successfully passed the Level 3 Software Development to be considered for higher level digital studies
