What is the course about?
Our ESOL courses are based on the syllabus of the ESOL Skills for Life curriculum for each level and focus on developing reading, writing and speaking and listening skills over an academic year.
We offer all levels from Pre Entry to Level 2. Before you can enrol, you will need to have an interview with one of our initial assessors and complete an assessment to determine your level. If you already study with us, your current tutor can help you.
In addition to helping you develop the four skills listed above, you will learn more about life in the UK: employment, education, culture, politics, history, media, rights and responsibilities, sport and of course topics of interest to you.
The course is classroom based only. We do not offer online courses. You will be expected to do homework regularly and make use of our Virtual Learning Environment (Teams). When you are ready, you will take Skills for Life exams covering reading, writing and speaking and listening.
Depending on residency eligibility and employment status, course fees may apply. For equipment, you will need pens, pencils and writing paper, and a folder to keep all your course materials. An English dictionary will be necessary - your teacher can give advice and suggestions. You will also need access to a computer.
Once you have completed your reading, writing and speaking and listening exams, you will progress to the next level.
Once you have passed Level 2, you can complete other vocational and creative qualifications or IELTS if you are planning on going to university. We also offer career advice.
