What is the course about?
Helps you to improve your practical maths skills. You will be able to apply the skills learnt in everyday life, both at home and in the workplace.
Various levels from Entry level 3 to GCSE and Level 3 Maths . Before you can enrol, you will need to take an initial assessment and have a short interview with one of our staff, so we can ensure this is the right level for you. Prior qualification will be considerate as part of the suitability of the programme.
Various - dependent on course - Functional Skills will cover whole numbers with up to two significant figures, understanding how to use addition and subtraction in practical situations, recognise and use familiar measures, including time, area and money whilst GCSE focuses on Geometry, Measure, Statistics, Ratio and Proportion with Rates of Change, Algebra, Number and Probability. Core Maths Level 3 is based on scenario tasks in assessments to build your confidence in applying maths to real-life situation
You will attend classes onsite each week and there are various methods of assessment and exams depending on the course you are enrolled onto.
The course is free, but you are expected to supply your own paper, pen , folder and specific maths equipment including calculators. You will be advised to buy a course book or borrow it from the library. Access to a PC, laptop or compatible tablet with internet is essential for the online element. If you do not have internet access, we strongly recommend you make full use of our learning centres or your local library.
Your mathematical skills will have developed well and you should be able to follow further related studies or be work ready.
Various - depended on starting point. Progression between preparation, Functional Skills and GCSE courses or requirement to hold Level 2/GCSE qualification for employment or further study at higher education.
