WAES Creative Showcase 2024

This year’s Creative Showcase left the audience inspired as they witnessed our learners bring their artwork to life. Held at the Lisson Grove Centre, the event celebrated the hard work of talented learner designers and artists from diverse backgrounds.

WAES Principal Arinola Edeh kicked off the evening with a warm welcome, followed by speeches from Head of Creative Industries Dominic Harris and WAES Governor Carolyn Keen. The event provides a platform to recognise learners for all their creations this academic year and establish their presence.

This year’s exhibition featured an impressive array of ceramics, striking paintings, thought-provoking graphic statements, and mesmerising digital art. The exhibition was a kaleidoscope of creativity, with each piece telling a unique story and resonating deeply with staff, family, and friends.

A photoshoot session allowed models and designers to get their outfits professionally photographed for their portfolios before the evening’s fashion show segment, which was nothing short of spectacular. Fashion design learners with the help of our Hair and Media-Makeup department brought their unique visions to fruition with collections that blended art and culture. Each ensemble displayed a distinct personality, showcasing the learners’ design aesthetics and technical prowess. Outfits were modelled by learners, staff, family, and friends. Shortly after, guests watched a film created by our Level 3 Creative Media Production and Technology learners, sparking conversations about current world news.

The evening concluded positively, reflecting a strong sense of collaboration among staff and learners to make the Creative Showcase a special moment.

Credit goes to our learner Miroslav Bocak for creating the collage that was selected for the front cover of the programme and poster.
