The first graduation ceremony of the academic year was held on Wednesday 11 December, in the elegant setting of the Lord Mayor’s Parlour at Westminster City Hall. This special event honoured the achievements of learners from the Amazon Web Services Programme (AWS), Green Skills, and Education and Training courses.
WAES Principal Arinola Edeh warmly opened the ceremony, setting a tone of celebration and pride. Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Quality Alison Muggridge followed with heartfelt congratulations, joined by Head of Digital Waqas Ahmed, Assessment Manager for Teaching and Learning Charlotte Wolf, and Quality Manager Louise Jordan, who represented Education and Training and Course Leader for Green Skills, Andreea Butnaru, also addressed the first Retrofit Bootcamp graduates, commending their dedication and accomplishments.
A highlight of the afternoon was the inspiring presence of Claire Spiller, EMEA Leader for the AWS Restart for Success Programme. Spiller spoke about the vast opportunities awaiting graduates of the AWS course, emphasising the growing demand for skilled professionals in the tech sector.
The graduates’ journeys were brought to life through personal stories shared by learners. One standout moment came from Sathish Boini, a former WAES learner now serving as Digital Course Leader at WAES. Boini recounted his challenges and triumphs, encouraging attendees to persevere in the face of setbacks and never lose sight of their goals.
The event concluded with a powerful message from WAES Governor Carolyn Keen, who shared her personal journey and applauded the graduates for their resilience and success.
This memorable afternoon served as a testament to the hard work, determination, and bright futures of the graduates, marking the beginning of their next chapter with a sense of achievement and hope.
