Get Online Week 2025

Get Online Week is a national campaign led by the Good Things Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to helping everyone benefit from the digital world. The campaign encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to develop their digital confidence and discover how being online can make everyday life easier, safer, and more connected.

Each year, Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) proudly takes part in the campaign, hosting workshops and activities that promote digital inclusion and lifelong learning.

As part of Get Online Week 2025, WAES hosted an event: “Decoding Artificial Intelligence”, organised by Westminster City Council (WCC) in partnership with Softcat, a leading IT solutions provider. The digital workshop explored the world of artificial intelligence, covering key topics such as:

  • What is AI, Really? – Understanding the basics of artificial intelligence.
  • How Does AI Learn? – Exploring how machine learning works.
  • AI in Everyday Life – Recognising how AI impacts the tools and apps we use daily.
  • How to Be Safe with AI – Staying safe, ethical, and informed in a digital world.
  • How to Harness the Power of AI – Using AI tools effectively and responsibly.

In addition, learners were invited to take part in immersive experience sessions throughout the week, held in WAES’s newly built Green Skills Innovation Centre. These sessions gave participants, including Inclusive Pathways learners, the opportunity to explore everyday technology scenarios such as entering passwords, using online forms, and developing practical digital skills in a supportive environment.

WAES continues to champion digital inclusion beyond Get Online Week. In partnership with the Good Things Foundation, WAES has distributed free data SIM cards to learners, both last year and this year, helping those with limited internet access to stay connected, continue their studies, and build essential online skills.
