Today, we came together to remember.
At 11am, the Leader of the Council, Cllr Adam Hug, joined the Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Robert Rigby, the Chief Executive, councillors and council staff for a moment of reflection to mark Armistice Day. The ceremony provided an opportunity to honour all those who served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present.
This year’s wreaths held special significance. Each one was carefully handcrafted by floristry learners, who devoted their time and creativity to shaping these symbols of remembrance. Their dedication added a meaningful, personal touch to the commemoration, demonstrating how younger generations continue to carry the responsibility of honouring the fallen.
As the wreaths were laid, the gathering stood in silence, united in respect and gratitude. Through these thoughtful creations, the community ensured the memory of those who served lives on.
