About Us

WAES is Westminster's adult college for learners aged 19+ with three centres in the heart of London. Whether you're returning to learning, want to learn a new skill or would like to progress to university, we have a huge range of qualifications and free courses for you.

Come along to one of our centres to find out more about our courses and make an application. You will then be invited back to complete your assessments and interviews, discuss funding eligibility and get enrolled if this cannot be completed on the day. Some courses that have started in the last week or so may still have a few places available so there's still time to get in touch to find out about starting your course this year.

Ceramics on Saturday

This course will cover all the basic preparation and construction processes - pinching, coiling, slab building, wheel-throwing, press-moulding, surface decoration and glazing.

Floristry for Beginners

This course is suitable for anyone who is considering floristry as a possible career path. It is designed for beginners as an introduction and will cover the basic skills and techniques needed to progress onto the next course. You will work with beautiful fresh flowers and create both traditional and contemporary designs, which you can take home each week. The course also covers key health and safety requirements.

Intermediate Floristry

This is a progression course if you have done a beginner’s course in Floral Design or Floristry. You will work continue with beautiful fresh flowers and create new traditional and contemporary designs, which you can take home each week.

Introduction to Pattern Cutting

This course will introduction you to the core skills of pattern cutting, enabling you to use basic blocks to create simple patterns. You will learn how to drape on the stand and how to extract a pattern from your design and reproduce it in toile fabric.

Confidence in Digital 3

A course in computer skills covering skills such as using email, searching for information, basic excel formulas and saving and uploading documents to Teams, in preparation for qualification courses at Entry 3 level and above.

Lunchtime Yoga

A yoga course focussing on strength, flexibility, balance and breathing in a beautiful setting. Suitable for all levels.

Maths Skills EHCP

This course is designed to help you improve your practical maths skills. You will be able to apply the skills learnt in everyday life both at home and in the workplace.

Women's Yoga

A women only yoga course focussing on strength, flexibility, balance and breathing in a beautiful setting. Suitable for all levels.

Level 3 Certificate in Software Development (Intensive)

This qualification is for learners who have successfully achieved Level 2 Software and Programming and who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries within Software Development. Learners should be able to demonstrate the skills and ability to study at Level 3. English and Maths at Level 2 will provide a good foundation for successful progression.

Mindfulness and Breathwork for Wellbeing

Led by our specialist tutor, this is a series of classes to learn techniques to ease depression, stress, anxiety and pain. You will learn how to breathe and move toward a mindful body and mind.

Upcycling Your Clothes

Using pre-loved items of clothing, you will learn how to apply design principles and sewing construction techniques to make a unique piece of upcycled, sustainable clothing. You will obtain the skills needed to create numerous design ideas and based using upcycling techniques. You will leave the course with a completed garment and technical file of samples.

Students will consider ethical and sustainable techniques and how individuals can play their part in stopping unwanted clothes going to landfill.

You will need to bring at least two of your own garments to use during this course.

Community Art for Wellbeing

In this 8 week course, you will learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting in a variety of mediums, developing your artistic technique in a range of projects.
